🔵⚪Annual Club/School GAA Health and Wellbeing Day⚪🔵

St. Dallan's Primary School, Warrenpoint combined with Cumann Pheadair Naofa, as part of the Club/School Link, hosted their annual GAA Health & Wellbeing Day for Primary 7 pupils on Monday 19th June.

The fun-packed day commenced with a honeybee workshop hosted by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council highlighting the important role bees play in improving our mental and physical wellbeing.

In keeping with tradition, the pupils took park in a GAA Quiz followed by various GAA themed activities throughout the morning. Guest speaker and county football manager, Conor Laverty, talked to the P7 children outlining his long and lustrous footballing career to date which was followed by an enthusiastic Q&A session. O’Neill’s Gaelic footballs, sponsored by Warrenpoint GAA, were presented to the winners at the concluding presentation ceremony – (Darragh Rice, Anna Lunny, Koen Murphy, Danny Moley, Leah Campbell, Caoimhe McErlean).

Coaching was the focus of the afternoon activities with pupils enjoying Gaelic Football, Camogie and Hurling. All pupils participated in energetic coaching sessions delivered by club coaches from Cumann Pheadair Naofa, including Christy McShane, Kieran Grant, Ciara Carr, Caoimhe Shannon, Johnny Rooney and Brigid Carr as well as a host of county players and coaches including Sarah Louise Graffin (Camogie - Down), Oisin MacManus (Hurling - Down) Ross Carr (Football - Down), Danny Magill (Football – Down) and Aimee & Blaithin Mackin (Football - Armagh).

School Principal, Mrs Farrell, expressed appreciation to Cumann Pheadair Naofa GAA Club and to Club/School Liaison Officer Brigid Carr for the club’s continued commitment to the development of Gaelic Games in St. Dallan’s. She also thanked both the club and county coaches for providing the afternoon coaching.

On behalf of the club, Brigid Carr thanked Mrs Farrell and the Primary Seven teachers, Mrs Morgan and Miss Wilson, for making the GAA Health and Wellbeing Day another successful and enjoyable event for the pupils.
